Get your sneakers on! Everyone’s favorite Orange County Alzheimer’s walk is back again this year on November 9th, 2019 to to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and programs as well as fund important research toward eradicating this disease.

Here’s what you need to know about this year’s Walk4ALZ & Run4ALZ 2019:

Why is This Event so Important?

Did you know that 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s today, and every minute another individual develops the disease?  In 2019 alone, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost our nation a staggering $290 billion, including $195 billion in Medicare and Medicaid payments. And these figures are rising every year. That’s why critical research is so important so that together we can improve the future of Alzheimer’s in America.

Where Does the Money Go?

The funds raised by this particular event are also used to support the individuals who are impacted by the disease in our local communities. Alzheimer’s Orange County has been serving the area for 35 years with free programs and services, like their telephone Helpline, caregiver support groups, and more.

How Can I Participate?

There are many ways you can participate in making this event a success and making Alzheimer’s disease a thing of the past.

  • Join as a Runner: Whether you’d prefer to walk the 2-mile course or to run the 3.1-mile course, this event is perfect for any level of activity! There is no cost to register, but you are encouraged to fundraise to support the cause.
